I've never had a good track record with vacuum cleaners whether they be the upright or cylinder type. The problem is that I always manage to break them just after the guarantee period has run out and I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay extended guarantees for electrical items. I always figure that by the time I need to replace an item I would have spent more on insurance than the cost of replacing, and especially as electrical items seem to come down in price after their initial launch.
